Henry Resurrected

A formerly abandoned poem, continued

For Henry
"I like it," she said, but he replied without
reference to that pronomial something she'd stuttered
-- the I, not the it -- that IT was too cluttered
with history. She had no right to an I. For an I
doesn't come eventually, in the by and by,
fie! what syllabic whimper of a truth for a tooth
unencumbered by justice, old testament style
